the salinity increases in mid latitudinal zone as follows
the water flowing in the rivers hit the rocks which contains the sodium chloride with it
then the rivers flow in the oceans with concentration of sodium chloride(commonly called as table salt) this causes the salinity in mid latitudinal zone
