Surface temperature in Bay of Bengal is normally between 22°C and 31ºC.

It is cooler by maximum of 1-2ºC in the Arabian Sea.

Near the Arabian Sea the Salinity is very much high than the Bay of Bengal and it gets less river runoff as compared to the Bay of Bengal of India.

This is because-

I. More large peninsular rivers drain their water to the Bay of Bengal than the Arabian Sea.

2. The Arabian Sea lies on the west coast and Bay of Bengal lies on the east of India.

3. The eastern coast salinity is 34% while the salinity of western coast is 35%.

There is more number of salt-pans in western coast.
