Salma takes 15 minutes from her house to reach her school on a bicycle. If the bicycle has a speed of 2 m/s, calculate the distance between her house and the school.

\boxed{\rm{\red{Given\longrightarrow }}}

  • Time taken [t] =15 minutes.
  • Speed [s]= 2 m/s.

Formula to be used,

\bf{ D = s \times T }

where, D= distance

s= speed

T= time

\boxed{\rm{\red{SoLution\longrightarrow }}}

Firstly convert time, min to sec

we konw,

  • 1 minute = 60 seconds
  • 15 minutes = 15×60 = 900 seconds

put all values in the formula we get,

\sf{D= 2 \times 900}

\sf{D=1800m}

\underline{\bf{\small{\therefore Distance\ between \ her \ house\ and\ school\ is\ 1800m}}}

Given :

  • Time taken = 15 minutes
  • Speed of bicycle = 2 m/s

To find :

  • Distance between house and school

Formula used :

  • Distance = Speed × Time

According to the question,

→ At first we have to convert minutes in seconds

→ As we know,

1 minute = 60 seconds (s)

.°. 15 minutes = 15 × 60 s = 900 s

Now,

  • Distance = ?
  • Time = 900 s
  • Speed = 2 m/s

According to the formula,

Distance = Speed × Time

Distance = 2 × 900

.°. Distance = 1800 m

Now,

We have to change it in kilometres (km)

→ So,when we change it in kilometres we get 1.8 km.

.°. The distance between house and school is 1.8 km....
