India is the 3rd largest salt (common) producing country in the world after China & USA with a production of about 276 lakh tonnes during the year 2015-16 which is about 3% more than previous year's production.In 2016-17 (up to November 2016) production of salt (common) is recorded at 179.34 lakh tonnes.
