Salvatore felt dreadfully homesick in the battleship. To fight his homesickness, he would stare at the sunset every evening to see what the weather would be like the next day. He had nothing to with the dawn, but when he had them before his eyes he realized in some dim fashion that they were as much part of him as his hands and his feet.

Answer:

Salvatore is written by W Somerset Maugham.

Explanation:

Salvatore was fifteen year old son of an Italian fisherman. He took care of his siblings and used to swim in the sea with his father to catch fish. As he grew older he was betrothed with a young beautiful girl who lived on Grande Marina. Soon Salvatore was sent away for military service. Very quickly, did he realize that he missed his home town and his family specially his fiance.

He used to spend his evenings looking at the sunset and thinking what the weather would be like the next day. He had nothing to do in the dawn too. One day looking at the dim light he realized his family town is like his hands and feet to him. Necessary and much needed.
