Cost of Brushes= $ 8

Cost of a palette =$ 5

Cost of Oil Paints = $ 15

Cost of all three (i.e brushes +oil paints +palette)= $8 + $5 +$15= $28

Total Amount paid including sales tax = $ 29.82

Let the value of sales tax = x%

→ 28 + x % of 28 = 29.82

→ 28 + \frac{28x}{100} = 29.82

\frac{28x}{100} = 29.82 - 28 =1.82

→ x = \frac{1.82\times100}{28}=\frac{182}{28}=\frac{14\times13}{14\times2}=\frac{13}{2}

Rate of sales tax = \frac{13}{2}%
