Sam is 3 times as old as Rob. If 15 is subtracted from Sam's age and 13 is added to Rob's age, their ages will be equal. How old is each now?

Let Sam's age be x and Rob's age be y

=> x = 3y ----(1)

ATQ

x-15 = y + 13 ----(2)

Using (1) in (2)

3y - 15 = y + 13

=> 3y - y = 13 + 15

=> 2y = 28

=> y = 14

Using y =14 in (1), we get

x = 3×14 = 42

.

Sam's age = 42

Rob's age = 14
