To Find:

He received Rs.6 as change, how much money did he pay?

Solution:

Cost of chips = Rs.8.75

Cost of sweets = Rs.5.25

Total cost = 8.75+5.25=14

Let x be the amount paid by him  

He received Rs.6 as change  

So, x-14=6

x=14+6

x=20

Hence He paid Rs.20
