Sam spends exactly £20 on petrol. the petrol costs £1.45 per litre. She can buy 13.8L of petrol ( upto 1 decimal place).

£1.45 can be used to buy 1 L of petrol.

∴ From unitary method, £1 can be used to buy = (1 ÷ 1.45) = 0.6897 L of petrol.

So, £20, can be used to buy (0.6897 × 20) = 13.794 L of petrol.

Now, we need to round off 13.794 to 1 decimal place which is 13.8 L of petrol

So, Sam can buy 13.8L of petrol from £20.
