Sam wanted to observe the karyotype (number and appearance of chromosomes) of a child with down syndrome. Hence, he extracted blood of the child and separated components of blood using centrifuge. He extracted rbc from the bottom of the tube and observed it under the microscope. However, he failed to find any chromosome at the end of the experiment. Analyze the situation and justify why the experiment would have failed by giving appropriate solution.

Answer:

Experiment failed bcoz he had taken RBC

Explanation:

A mammalian rbc is enucleated since no nucleus is present no chromosomal matter I.e chromosomes are absent. Hence down syndrome which is chromosomal aneuploidy can not be analysed
