We as human beings are able to form complex relationships with people who are not related to us.
We are able to feel compassion and empathy towards others and thus this empathy needs to move us to be of use to the society and try to assistance to as many people as possible.
जिस समाज में हम रहते हैं, उस समाज के प्रति हमारी भी कुछ ज़िम्मेदारीयाँ बनती हैं। हर व्यक्ति समाज का एक अहम अंग होता है और उसकी समाज के विकास और समाज को बेहतर बनाने के प्रति अनेकों ज़िम्मेदारीयाँ होती हैं।
एक अच्छा नागरिक हमेशा इस बात का ध्यान ज़रूर रखता है वह जो भी कार्य करे उससे केवल उसका नहीं बल्कि पूरे समाज का या समाज में रह रहे कुछ और व्यक्तियों का भी भला हो। समाज में रह कर बाकी नागरिकों और लोगों की निस्वार्थ सेवा करना ही समाज सेवा कहलाता है।
समाज सेवा करने से हम ना कुछ लोगों की मदद करते हैं बल्कि एक तरह से पूरे समाज में सुधार लाने की पहल करते हैं। हमारे पास अगर हर सुख सुविधा है तो उसे केवल खुद के लिए इस्तेमाल ना करके उन लोगों को भी उस सुविधा का लाभ देना चाहिए जो उससे वंचित हैं। समाज में एकजुट रहने से और सबकी मदद करने से ही यह समाज और बेहतर बनेगा।
