Sambar lake is part of Endorheic basin i.e. close drainage basin that has no outflow of water which it receives. When there is no outflow of water, all the salts that were received into the water body gets accumulated and becomes more salty.
Added to this, it's in semi-arid region of Rajasthan in which summer temperatures go very high. Unlike water, salts don't get evaporated and remains on surface itself.
This lake surroundings is also influenced by Aerial erosion from the nearby desert which brings sand particles.
All this leads to increase in salt content of the lake.

Sambar is an inland salt water lake of our country, because-
• The salinity of this lake's water is obviously more than the normal range and that's why it's considered as a salt lake.
• The formation of the Sambar lake took place near a desert (western desert of India) and that's why the salinity level of this lake was high since it's formation.
• The water which is stored in this lake was previously contained by different minerals which also increased the salinity of this lake's water.
And many more.
