Answer:

381 grams of copper will be deposited.

Explanation:

In an HCl(Hydrogen chloride) cell, the liberation of hydrogen takes place by the following reaction

\mathrm{2H^{+}+2e^{-}\rightarrow H_2}         (1)

Where,

H⁺=hydrogen ions

H₂=hydrogen gas

From equation (1) we can see that 2 mol of e- will liberate 1 mol of hydrogen (H₂) gas.

Moles of hydrogen gas(H₂) liberated = \frac{12}{2}=6 moles of H₂

To liberate six moles of electrons required is 6 × 2 = 12 mole

In CuSO₄(Copper sulfate) cell, deposition of hydrogen takes place by the following reaction

\mathrm{Cu_2^{+}+2e^{-}\rightarrow Cu}          (2)

That is two moles of electrons will deposit one mole of Cu metal.

Thus, 12 moles of the electron will deposit=  \frac{12}{2}=6 moles of Cu

So, the mass of copper deposited will be 6×63.5 = 381 g (Molar mass of copper=63.5 grams).
