Hello

Here is your answer

Let the total salary of Sameer be Rs.y

Expenditure on food articles%=40%

Expenditure on food articles=40y/100

Remaining amount%=100%-40%=60%

Expenditure on transport=one third of remaining amount%=1/3x60/100=20%

Expenditure on transport=20y/100

Savings=Rs.450

Total Expenditure=Expenditure on food articles+Expenditure on transport=40y/100+20y/100=60y/100

Balance amount=Total salary-Total Expenditure=100y/100-60y/100=40y/100=0.4y

Half of balance amount=Savings

0.4y/2=450

0.4y=450x2

0.4y=900

y=900x10/0.4x10

y=9000/4

y=2250

Answer=Rs.2250

Therefore Sameer's monthly salary is Rs.2250

Hope it helps you...
