Present age of Mona.

Let,

Present age of Sana be 'x'.

and the present age of Mona be 'y'.

As it is given Sana is senior to Mona by 18 years.

Sana's age = Mona's age + 18

i.e. X = Y+18..........(i)equation

After 6 years,

Sana's age = X+6

Mona's age = Y+6

Then, Sana will be twice as old as Mona.

x + 6 = 2 (y+6)

x + 6 = 2y+12

x = 2y+12-6

x = 2y+6............(ii)equation

From boththe equation,

2y+6 = y+18

2y-y = 18-6

Y = 12

Now substitute the value of y in equation i.

X = Y+18

X = 12+18

X = 30

Therefore the present age of Sona is X = 30 years and the present age of Mona is Y = 12 Years.

Verification:

Substitute the values of x and y in one of the equations such that L.H.S = R.H.S.

X = Y+18

30 = 12+18

30 = 30

L.H.S = R.H.S
