Sandeep can do a piece of work in 80 days he works at it for 10 days and then Pradeep alone finishes the remaining work in 42 days how many days will it take for them to work together? ​

Solution:

Time taken by Sandeep to complete the whole work = 80 days

→ Work done by Sandeep in 1 day = 1/80

→ Work done by Sandeep in 10 days = 10/80 = 1/8

Remaining work = 1 - 7/8 = 7/8

Time taken by pardeep to complete 7/8th work = 42 days

→ Time taken to complete whole work = 42 × 8/7 = 48 days

→ Work done by pardeep in 1 day = 1/48

Now,

(Sandeep + Pardeep) one day work = 1/80 + 1/48 = 3 + 5/240 = 8/240 = 1/30

  • Sandeep and pardeep can finish the whole work in 30 days
