So, Sandeep's age is = x+2
After 5 years, the sum of their ages will be = 40

(5+2+x) + (5+x) = 40

7+x + 5+x = 40

2x = 40-12
x = 28/2

Therefore, Rahul's age is = 14
accordingly, Sandeep's age will be = 14+2 = 16
