Answer: Situation can be represented algebraically as 2x + 3y = 250

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the cost of class IX Mathematics book be x and cost of class X Mathematics book be y.

Number of class IX books bought by Sangeetha = 2

Amount spent on class IX books = 2x

Number of class X books bought by Sangeetha = 3

Amount spent on class IX books = 3y

Total amount spent by Sangeetha = 2x +3y

       2x + 3y = 250

Number of class IX books bought by Meenu = 4

Amount spent on class IX books = 4x

Number of class X books bought by Meenu = 6

Amount spent on class IX books = 6y

Total amount spent by Sangeetha = 4x +6y

       4x + 6y = 500

  ⇒  2x + 3y  = 250

Graphical representation is given below
