(a) It is famous and costly because of its beautiful texture and lustre, though now, because it is so costly, silk is bought less, and instead artificial silk (Rayon) is bought because it matches the texture and lustre of original silk and is not that costly and doesn't wrinkle easily.

(b) Both Sania and her mother because it is horrible that the cruel humans are killing that many cocoons just to make cloth, but as we can't control it, and it could help the needy, and also it can be preserved for later use and thus conserve them, her mother also has a point.
