Suppose Sanju had borrowed ₹ x from Simran.
Then,
Principal (P) = ₹ x
Rate (r) = 8% p.a.
Time (t) = 4 years.
Therefore, interest (SI)= Prt/100
=₹ x×8×4/100 = ₹ 32x/100
Amount =P+SI
=₹ (x+32x/100) =₹(132x/100)
This is the amount that had to be returned.
Therefore,
132x/100 =9900
=> x =7500
Therefore, sum that was borrowed = ₹x = ₹ 7500 [Answer]
