Answer: Harsha vardhana (c. 590-647 CE; IAST Hara-vardhana) was a Pushya bhuti monarch who governed northern India from 606 to 647 CE. He was the son of Prabhakara vardhana, who had vanquished the Alchon Hun invaders, and the junior sibling of Rajyavardhana, king of Thanesar in modern-day Haryana.

Explanation:  Harsha's domain encompassed much of north and northwestern India at its peak, with the Narmada River forming its southern border. He ultimately made Kanauj (in modern-day Uttar Pradesh) his capital and governed until 647 CE.  When Harsha attempted to extend his dominion into India's southern coast, he was routed by Emperor Pulakeshin II of the Chalukya dynasty in the Battle of Narmada.  His palace became a centre of cosmopolitanism as a result of the calm and wealth that reigned, drawing scholars, artists, and religious visitors from all over the world. The Chinese traveller Xuanzang visited Harsha's palace and made a glowing report about him (as Shiladitya), praising his fairness and kindness.
