Given:

Total number of chocolates = 50

Number of chocolates distributed = 35

To find:

The fraction of chocolates distributed and chocolates left with him.

Solution:

$\text{Fraction }= \frac{\text{Number of chocolates distributed}}{\text{Total number of chocolates}}

              $=\frac{35}{50}

             $=\frac{5 \times 7}{5\times 10}

Cancel the common factor 5.

             $=\frac{7}{10}

Fraction of chocolates distributed is \frac{7}{10}.

Remaining chocolates = Total chocolates - Chocolates distributed

                                     = 50 - 35

                                     = 15

Chocolates left with Santa is 15.
