Saponification- on hydrolysis, Easter gives parent alcohol and sodium salt of carboxylic acid . Alkaline hydrolysis of ester is called saponification.

Esterification-when ethanoic acid reacts with ethanol in the presence of concentrated sulphuric acid we get a sweet smelling substance which is Easter. this reaction is called esterification reaction.

Soaps--a soap is the sodium or potassium salt of long chain of carboxylic acid ,which has the cleansing properties .soaps are made by saponification process .It has two hands one is hydrophilic and the other is hydrophobic.

Detergents--a detergent is Ammonium Sulphate salt of long chain Carboxylic acids.
