• Acute illness is of short duration. Example of acute illness is fever, cough and cold.
• Chronic illness is of longer duration and lasts for a lifetime. They take time to develop. Example of chronic illness is cardiovascular diseases, asthma.
• Acute illness is not lethal while chronic illness can be lethal.
• As per their duration, acute and chronic illnesses require less and long-lasting medical attention respectively.
