Answer:

16

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the students already in the bus be x.

When Sarah got on, students became x+1.

At stop after Sarah's students became = x + 1 + 7

At next stop students became,

x + 1 + 7 + 5

At last stop students became,

x + 1 + 7 + 5 + 9

Now, the number of students which get on the bus will only be the students who get off the bus

So,

the number of students on the bus = number of students got off.

x + 1+7+5+9 = 38

x + 22 = 38

x = 16

Answer:

Therefore,No. of students already in bus before Sarah = 16 students

Step-by-step explanation:

let no. of students before Sarah be X

at the Sarah stop = 1 student got on

on the next stop = 7 students got on

at the next stop = 5 students got on

on the last stop = 9 students got on

total number of students before Sarah

= 1 + 7 + 5 + 9 = 22 students

According to the problem

X + 22 students = 38 students

X = 38 - 22 students

X = 16 students

Therefore,No. of students already in bus before Sarah = 16 students
