given,

total number of cards = 32

part of cards Sarah signed = 1/2

Number of cards Sarah signed = 1/2 of 32 = 16

part of cards Richard signed = 3/8

Number pf cards Richard signed = 3/8 of 32 = 12

there fore , total number of cards both signed = 16 + 12 = 28

number of cards left = total number of cards - number of cards signed

=> cards left = 32 - 28 = 4
