Sieving wheat flour is not advisable as wheat bran, which is removed during sieving, is very rich in nutrients and is also a rich source of fiber. It is better to remove visible impurities by hand picking.

Sarala advised her mother not to sieve wheat flour before making dough as sieving removes the wheat bran present in flour.
It is high in nutritional value,i.e.rich in minerals, vitamins and proteins and also contains huge amount of dietary fibre, that provides roughage and therefore , is an important component of wheat flour.
