Saraya has change the cathode of electrolytic cell during electrolytic refining of copper. She has
placed a graphite rod instead of pure copper metal. Then explain what happens to the refining
process​

Explanation:

this is because in electrolytic refining we need the pure metal, impure metal and electrolyte of the same metal only .we can't use any other metal as an pure metal . electrolytic refining will not take place .

- Electrolytic refining is the process of refining impure metals by the use of electricity.

- In this process, the impure metal is put as the anode and a strip of pure metal is made as the cathode.

- A solution of a soluble salt of the same metal is taken as the electrolyte.

- So when graphite rod is put in place of copper, then the refining process will not be completed
