Answer:

Vallabhbhai Patel was born on October 31, 1875, in the Gujarat village of Nadiad, the fourth of six children. Growing up in Karamsad under the care of his mother Ladba, he frequently assisted his farmer father Jhaverbhai in tilling the land.

Explanation:

  • His father is said to have fought against the British in the Rani of Jhansi's army during the 1857 Uprising. Jhaverbhai had settled into a quiet life as a peasant, tilling the ten acres of his ancestral land that belonged to him by the time Vallabhbhai was born. Ladba, Vallabhbhai's mother, was said to be a very capable woman with a lovely voice.
  • Every evening, she gathered the children in the courtyard to sing devotional songs and tell them stories from the epics.
  • Despite attending the village school as a boy, Vallabhbhai learned simple arithmetic and tables from his father while accompanying him to the fields. In his eagerness to learn, he bombarded his teachers with questions. They were irritated and told him to learn for himself. Following suit, much of his education was self-taught. Vallabhbhai moved to Petlad, a small town seven miles from his home, for further studies at the age of sixteen, after completing his seventh grade in Gujarati. His hometown Karamsad did not have an English school.
  • He persuaded six other Karamsad boys to join him and rented a small house in Petlad where they cooked, shared chores, and studied. He graduated from Nadiad High School at the age of 22. Following that, he hoped to study in Bombay, but life had other plans for him.
  • Meanwhile, when he was 16, he married Javerbai, a girl from a nearby village. Unfortunately, we know very little about Javerbai. They eventually had two children. Mani was born in 1904 as a girl, and Dahya was born in 1906 as a boy.

Thus this is the answer.
