According to the question, present age of Sarita is 14 years younger than her cousin. So present age of Sarita should be ( x - 14 ) years.
Given in the question that after 5 years, age of Sarita and her cousin will be in ratio of 2 : 3
Age of sarita's cousin at that time = present age + 5 years = ( x + 5 ) years
Age of Sarita at that time = present age + 5 years = ( x - 14 + 5 ) Years = ( x - 9 ) years
Ratio of ages = 2 : 3
( x - 9 ) : ( x + 5 ) = 2 : 3
3( x - 9 ) = 2( x + 5 )
3x - 27 = 2x + 10
3x - 2x = 10 + 27
x = 37
Therefore present age of Sarita's cousin = x years = 37 years
And present age of Sarita = ( x - 14 ) years = ( 37 - 14 ) years = 23 years
