Present age of Sarthak = 12 years

Present age of Sarthak's father = 36 years

Solution :

Let the present age of Sarthak be x years .

Also ,

It is given that , Sarthak's father's age is three times as old as Sarthak .

Thus ,

Present age of Sarthak's father is 3x years .

Now ,

Sarthak's age after 12 years = (x+12) years

Sarthak's father's age after 12 years = (3x+12) years

Now ,

According to the question , after 12 years Sarthak's father will become two times as old as Sarthak .

Thus ,

=> 3x + 12 = 2(x + 12)

=> 3x + 12 = 2x + 24

=> 3x - 2x = 24 - 12

=> x = 12

Hence ,

Present age of Sarthak = x = 12 years Present age of Sarthak's father = 3x = 3•12 = 36 years .

Let, Sarthak's age be x

Sarthak's fatther's age be 3x

After 12 years, Sarthak's age will be x+12

After 12 years, Sarthak's father's age will be 2x

3x+12 = 2(x+12)

=) 3x+12 = 2x+24

=) 3x-2x = 24-12

=) x = 12
