SATURATED HYDROCARBON :

1.single covalent bond-alkane

2.less reactive

3.burn with clear flame

4.more number of hydrocarbon

5.this undergoes substitution reaction

UNSATURATED HYDROCARBON:

1.double and triple bond-covalent bond -alkene and alkyne

2.highly reactive

3.burn with sooty flame

4.less number of hydrocarbon

5.undergoes addition reaction

Answer:

Saturated Hydrocarbons :-

  1. If the valencies of all the carbon atoms are satisfied by the single bonds, such compounds are called Saturated hydrocarbons.
  2. Saturated hydrocarbons are also called as 'Alkanes'.
  3. Example :- Ethane , Propane.

Unsaturated Hydrocarbons :-

  1. The carbon compounds having double bond or triple bond between two carbon atoms are called unsaturated compounds.
  2. Unsaturated hydrocarbons with double bond are called as 'Alkenes', while with triple bond it is called as 'Alkynes'.
  3. Unsaturated compounds are more reactive than saturated compounds.
  4. Example :- Ethene, Ethyne.
