Answer:

Assume that the cost price of the first fan is Rs x

Cost price for the Fan 2 is Rs y.

The total cost price for the fans = x+y = Rs 3605.

Therefore, y = 3605-x …………………………………………….. (1)

He sold Fan 1 at a 15% profit

i.e., x + 15/100 x = 1.15 x

He sold the Fan 2 at a 9% loss;

i.e., y – 9/100 y = 0.91 y …………………………………………(2)

As shown in Eq. 1; y = 3605-x

Substituting in Eq. 2;

                          = 0.91 y

                          = 0.91 (3605-x)

As mentioned in the question;

1.15 x = 0.91 (3605 – x)

1.15 x = 3280.55 – 0.91 x

1.15 x + 0.91 x = 3280.55

Thus; 2.06 x = 3280.55

X = 1592.5

Y = 3605- x

   = 2012.5

The cost of Fan 1 was Rs. 1592.5

The cost of Fan 2 was Rs. 2012.5
