Given:

Angle of elevation, θ = 60°

The distance between the observation point and the foot of the tree = 5 m

To find:

Draw a diagram for this data

Solution:

The diagram that satisfies the given data is being attached below.

From the figure attached below we have,

AB = height of the tree

C = point of observation

BC = the distance between the observation point and the foot of the tree

∠ACB = 60° = angle of elevation

The formula to be used:

Trigonometric ratios of the triangle: tan θ =   \frac{perpendicular}{base}

Considering Δ ABC, we have

AB = perpendicular

BC = base

θ = 60°

∴ tan 60° =   \frac{AB}{BC}

⇒ √3 =   \frac{AB}{5}

AB = 5√3 m

Thus, the height of the tree is 5√3 m.

Diagram of the given observation:

1) We all know very well that the tree is perpendicular to the ground so this will be the case of the right angle triangle.

2) The angle of the elevation means that the Satya was observing a point which is above from its level of sight.

3) The diagram is given in the attached picture.
