The Jhiri Mela is oragnised every year at the Jhiri village near Shamachak which is about 20 Kms away from Jammu at Jammu Akhnoor Highway on Kartik Purnima during the October or November to commemorate the Dogra folk hero Baba Jitto who sacrificed his life for honesty and justice
