Satyendra Nath Bose with other Scientists at the National Centre for Basic Sciences
These days, there are so many subjects for us to learn We need to study for a long time to
understand something completely. It takes even longer without a good teacher. But there are
some people, who are brilliant enough to learn on their own. Satyendra Nath Bose was one
such man He was a self taught scientist the the subject he loved the most was Science
Born in 1894, Satyendra Nath Bose was the oldest of seven children. He was always good at
his academics. Since his youth, he scored well in exams. After schooling, he joined the
Presidency College in Calcutta, and pursued a degree in Maths
Soon he started researching on atomic physics and the theory of relativity This was an idea
that tried to explain how the world worked. He worked with the famous scientist, Albert
Einstein, on his visit to Europe,

Together, both of them discovered that gases, when cooled to very, very low temperatures,
they give energy
When he came back from Europe, he wanted to be a professor But, this was difficult since
he needed to do some more studies for it. Albert Einstein recommended him and so, he
became the Head of the Physics Department at Dhaka University
Here, he did some of his most important research in Physics, a branch of Science. For his
work, he was also nominated for a Nobel Prize many times between 1956 to 1962. To date
there is a debate amongst Scientists that he should have been awarded Nobel Prize for his
