Indian government launched a scheme to provide electricity to all households, is known as the Saubhagya Scheme or Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana.  Narendra Modi the Prime Minister of India announced this scheme in September 2017. This scheme was first launched in Manipur, the Northeastern state of India. He asserted that the project will be able to achieve its goal of providing free electricity to those recognized via the "Socio-economic and Caste Census" of 2011, while others will be charged an amount of Rs 500 for electricity connections. To make people aware of this a website (saubhagya.gov.in) is also launched by the government of India.
