Saumya went to sale to purchase some pants and skirts.When her mother asked how many of each she had bought .She answered the number of skirt is seven less than eight times the number of pants purchase.Also the number of skirt is four less than five times the number of pants purchase.For the sale of her mother,find how many pants and skirts saumya bought.

let number of skirts be x and number of pants be y

now by first condition

x = 8y - 7 --- 1

and by second condition

x = 5y - 4 ------ 2

by 1 and 2

8y - 7 = 5y - 4

8y - 5y = 7 - 4

3y = 3

y = 1

putting this value we get

x = 1

so 1 skirt and 1 pant only
