Trees are the lifeline of the planet earth. Trees allow the earth and its inhabitants to breathe. Trees play a significant role in maintaining the life-cycle of humans and other living organisms. Trees cleanse the environment. They consume carbon dioxide during the day time for photosynthesis and release oxygen that we breathe. Human beings are largely dependent on the trees for their sustenance. Trees are a rich source of food, fruits and vegetables. They also act as a source of wood, timber, rubber, paper, latex, gum, fibre, etc. Many trees have medicinal properties like eucalyptus, neem, oak, pine, etc. Trees offer shade where people can rest. They also provide natural habitats for wildlife.
Trees play a vital role in saving our environment from natural calamities. Trees preserve the soil from erosion that can cause landslides. It also attracts rain and helps in the entire process of precipitation. Trees maintain the temperature and keep the planet earth cool. There are many such benefits of trees. However, humans cut trees in large numbers for commercial purposes such as setting up factories, building houses, etc. The over-exploitation of certain trees for the human need for paper, rubber, gum, medicine, etc. has caused the natural imbalance. Due to massive deforestation, the earth is facing global warming, excessive pollution, etc.
It is our duty to plant more and more trees, and prevent trees from getting cut. Trees are an integral part of the ecosystem and survival of many living creatures depend on trees. We can engage ourselves in planting just one sapling and taking care of it. One tree, one person can create a huge difference in saving our nature from falling apart. Save trees, save mother earth!
