Savitri had to make a model of a cylindrical Kaleidoscope for her science project. She wanted to use chart paper to make the curved surface of the kaleidoscope. What should be the area of the chart paper required by her, if she wanted to make a Kaleidoscope of length 25cm with a 3.5cm radius.?

Solution,

Let r be the radius and h be the height of the cylinder. Then,

2\pi \: rh = 88 \:  \: and \:  \: h = 14 \\  \\  =  > 2 \times  \frac{22}{7}  \times r \times 14 = 88 \\  \\  =  > 88r = 88 \\  \\  =  > r = 1 \\  \\ Diameter \:  \: of  \: \: the \:  \: base = 2r = 2cm.
