My personal opinion is 'Yes'. There can be some reasons:

• To check grammatical errors: If you share something, you have to be precise in your context so that your words will be easy to read.
• To check spellings: Though we use short forms now and then, that never makes one's words clear to the recipient. So always try to write in full with correct spellings of words.
• To check appropriateness: Social networking sites are used by millions of people with a variety of different mindsets. So before expressing yourself to the fullest, make sure to check the topic's appropriateness in that platform.

There can be many other reasons, but YES, I think that contemplation is a good task to stay safe from any kind of leg-pulling!
