The name of Mir Jafar is taken along with Vibhishana and Jaichand. These three gentlemen deserted their old camp at the last minute and sided with the enemy camp. Resulting in not only the defeat of the old camp but change in the course of History.

Once upon a time Mir Jafar was the general of Nawab of Bengal Sirajuddaulah. Mir Jifar because of his nature, fell from the favors of Nawab and was mantaining a separate status with a large army of faithfulls in Bengal.

In 1755, the Battle of Plassey took place between Robert Clive of East India Company and Nawab of Bengal. Since Mir Jafar was another powerlord in the area, both the parties approached him. Mir Jafar decided to be with Nawab of Bengal but on the very day when both the rival armies were confronting each other,Mir Jafar men , in a pre-planned conspiracy with the British, crossed over to the opposite side

The Nawabs army got utterly confused and was routed by the British.

The British rewarded Mir Jafar by making him the Nawab of Bengal.

The Battle of Plassey laid the foundation stone of the British Empire in India. After the defeat of Nawab of Bengal in Plassey, the entire East and Northern India came within the bounds of the British.
