According to me, we can say "c" is silent or we can also say "s" is silent.

✍️ REASON :-

1) If I say that C is silent letter then the pronounciation of the term SCENT will be totally correct.

2) If I say that S is silent letter then the pronounciatiom of the term SCENT can be correct or even can be pronounced as "KENT"

For Example, the word "CORTEX" is actually pronounced as "KORTEX". Similarly, if S is silent then the pronounciation of the term SCENT can be KENT which is improper. However, it should be noted that, one can pronounce it correctly as S C E N T too even after making the "S" silent.
