Given :

Sachin got 60% marks in Maths and 3 marks less than Maths in Science. If the total marks are 150

  • 1) 90 2) 95 3) 87 4) 63

To find :

  • Marks scored in science

Solution :

★ Total marks = 150

Consider marks in maths be x

★ Marks in maths = 60%

★ Marks in Science = 3 marks less than maths

  • According to the given condition

★ Marks in maths

  • As we know that

Percentage = Obtained value/total value × 100

→ 60 = x/150 × 100

→ 60 = 10x/15

→ 60 × 15 = 10x

→ x = 60 × 15/10

→ x = 90

•°• Marks scored in maths = 90

★ Marks in Science = 3 marks less than maths

→ Marks in maths - 3

→ 90 - 3

→ 87

•°• Marks scored in science is 87

{\bf{Given\::}} \\

  • Schin got 60% marks in Maths.

  • His Science mark is '3 marks less' than Maths mark.

  • The total marks are 150 (in each subject).

 \\ {\bf{To\: Find\::}} \\

  • The marks he scored in science.

 \\ {\bf{Solution\::}} \\

Let,

  • Sachin got x marks in Math.

It is given that,

➣ Schin got 60% marks in Maths.

That means,

\dashrightarrow\:\tt{\dfrac{x}{150}\times{100}\:=\:60} \\

\dashrightarrow\:\tt{\dfrac{x}{15}\times{10}\:=\:60\:} \\

\dashrightarrow\:\tt{\dfrac{x}{15}\:=\:\dfrac{60}{10}\:} \\

\dashrightarrow\:\tt{x\:=\:6\times{15}\:} \\

\dashrightarrow\:\bf{x\:=\:90\:} \\

Hence,

✯ Sachin got 90 marks in Math.

And,

➣ His Science mark is '3 marks less' than Maths mark.

That means,

➛ 90 - 3

87

Hence,

✯ Sachin scored 87 marks in science.

Now,

➣ Percentage in science is,

\tt{\dfrac{87}{150}\times{100}\:} \\

\tt{\dfrac{87}{15}\times{10}\:} \\

\tt{\dfrac{87}{3}\times{2}\:} \\

\tt{29\times{2}\:}

\bf\pink{58\%\:}

∴ Sachin scored 58% in science.
