Fungi are special kind of organism with cell wall over the cell membrane just as plants. But in case of fungi, it is made of chitin, glulan and some kind of proteins.While the same in plants is composed of cellulose, hemicellulose and pactin. This makes the fungi different from plants.Also the life cycle in fungi is different from plants.Fungi are mostly saprophytic and decomposers while plants are autotrophic.

Thus, they have been placed in a special kingdom in the five kingdom classification system. They neither resemble plants nor animals.
