Undoubtedly, science and technology do not exist independent of the society, its culture and value system. They are part of the socio-economic and political framework of a given society. In order to understand their inter-dependence we need to look at the constituents of this interdependence.

Society is made of its people; if the people of a particular society happen to be scientific-minded, the science and technology of that society is more advanced and sophisticated than the society consisting of people who have no inclination for science and technology. Japanese, Swiss, Israeli, American, French, English, German, and Russian societies are far more advanced than Indian, Nepalese, Afgani, Mongolian, Nigerian, Sudanese societies. The difference between these two types of societies is the difference in culture and value systems.

The societies such as Japanese, Swiss, Israeli, American, French, English, German, and Russian societies that are more advanced scientifically are so because of their culture and value systems. The occidental culture and value system always encouraged exploration and going beyond the limits; this led to many inventions, discoveries, and innovations. Hence, all the breakthroughs in the world of science and technology have been done by people belonging to the western world.

On the other hand, oriental culture always encouraged spiritual values such as meditation, self-realization, self-actualization, etc. Hence, oriental culture could not make as many innovations, discoveries, and breakthrough in science and technology.

All the famous scientists such Newton, Leonardo da Vinci, Einstein, Alfred Nobel,  Louis Pasteur, Madam Curie, Graham Bell, Elon Musk, etc. belong to Western culture.

Every year the Nobel Prizes for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, etc are given to people belonging to Western culture.

In conclusion it can be said that Science and technology do not exist independent of the society, its culture and value system. They are part of the socio-economic and political framework of a given society
