Q1.

The arrangement of the soil particles in layers is termed to be a soil profile. Each layer comprises a different layer with different particles in it. The soil profile consists of three layers. The first is A-Horizon in which the organic materials are piled up. It is also known as topsoil. The organic matters include microorganisms, earthworms, decomposed parts of plants. The second is B-Horizon in which the soil is less humus. The soil is harder but is rich in minerals. It is also known as Subsoil. The third is C-Horizon in which only stones and rocks are present. It consists of the earth's bedrock. It is also known as Bedrock.
Q2.

a) Breathing is the physical process where you inhale and exhale air in and out of your lungs. Inhaling brings in air containing Oxygen, which is absorbed and exchanged for Carbon Dioxide. The Carbon Dioxide, now in the air inside your lungs, is expelled when you exhale. The Oxygen is carried in your blood to the cells around your body where respiration takes place. Respiration is a chemical reaction where Oxygen is used to breakdown Glucose in order to generate energy which is then used by the cell to function

b) You can reduce soil erosion by:

  • Maintaining a healthy, perennial plant cover.
  • Mulching.
  • Planting a cover crop – such as winter rye in vegetable gardens. ... Placing crushed stone, wood chips, and other similar materials in heavily used areas where vegetation is hard to establish and maintain.

The most effective known method for erosion prevention is to increase vegetative cover on the land, which helps prevent both wind and water erosion. Terracing is an extremely effective means of erosion control, which has been practiced for thousands of years by people all over the world.
