Question 1:-

Correct question:-Define Element,Compound and Mixture

Solution:-

Element:-An element is a substance which cannot be split up into two or more simpler substances by the usual chemical methods of applying heat, light or electrical energy. An element cannot cannot be split up into (or more) simpler substances because it is made up of only one kind of atoms. There are total 118 elements known till date.

Ex:-Copper,Iron,Oxygen etc.

Compound:-A compound is a substance made up of two or more elements chemically combined in a fixed proportion by mass.A compound cannot be separated by physical methods and the properties of a compound are entirely different from those of its constituent elements.

Ex:-H2O(water),NaCl(common salt),CO2(Carbon-doixide)etc.

Mixture:-A mixture is a substance which consist of two or more elements or compounds not chemically combined together.Mixture are of two types:-

i.homogeneous mixture

ii.heterogeneous mixture

Ex:- Soil,sea-water,ink,salt-solution,sugar solution,smoke,fog,mist etc.

Question 2:-

Correct question:What are Homogeneous and Heterogeneous mixture?Give examples also.

Homogeneous mixture:-Those mixtures in which substances are completely mixed togther and are indistinguishable from one another, are called homogeneous mixtures.A homogeneous micture has a uniform composition throughout its mass. All homogeneous mixtures are solutions.

Ex:-Sugar solution,salt solution,lemonade,soft driks etc.

Heterogeneous mixture:-Those mixtures in whoch the substances remain separate and one substance is spread throughout the other substance as small particles, droplets or bubbles, are called heterogeneous mixtures.

Ex:-Starch solution,dyes,petrol,soap solution,milk,sand-water mixture etc.
