Explanation:

The tongue in the mouth secrets saliva which contains an enzyme called amylase. This enzyme chnages starch to sugars. Once the food is swallowed, it passes through the esophagus. After reaching the stomach, the food is mixed with digestive juices and is further churned. The digestive juices contain an enzyme called pepsin. It changes proteins into smaller peptides. From the stomach, the food goes to the small intestine.
