जीवविज्ञान में लिंग ( , Gender) से तात्पर्य उन पहचानों या लक्षणों से जिनके द्वारा जीवजगत् में नर को मादा से पृथक् पहचाना जाता है। जंतुओं में असंख्य जंतु ऐसे होते हैं जिन्हें केवल बाह्य चिह्नों से ही नर, या मादा नहीं कहा जा सकता। नर तथा मादा का निर्णय दो प्रकार के चिह्नों, प्राथमिक (primary) और गौण (secondary) लैंगिक लक्षणों ( ual characters), द्वारा किया जाता है। वानस्पतिक जगत् में नर तथा मादा का भेद, विकसित प्राणियों की भाँति, पृथक्-पृथक् नहीं पाया जाता। जो की सत्य है।

In science the biological difference in male and female is based on teh genitelia, hormones production and genetic formation in both the sexes.

Both internal and external genitelia in male and female are different. Male genitelia part includes penis, urethra, and scrotum while female genitelia part includes ovaries,  the uterus (womb), the Fallopian tubes, the cervix, and the vagina. Genitelia differenec help to differetiate between gender.

The levels and types of hormones secretion is also different in male and female bodies, Both produces estrogen, progesterone and testosterone, . However, women have higher levels of progesterone and estrogen, and men have higher levels of testosterone.

Genetic factors affecting difference in male and female defines that both have 46 chromosomes, women includes two Xs and men incldue one X nad one Y chromosomes.
